Some love stories unfold like a perfectly written script, and Nick’s proposal to Danielle was no exception. Every detail came together just as planned, making for a moment that was nothing short of magical.
Nick envisioned a proposal that would highlight the beauty of the Philbrook Museum gardens while keeping the element of surprise. We worked together to create the perfect plan—one that involved a little creativity, a touch of secrecy, and a whole lot of love.
The Plan: A “Private Tour” with a Special Question
On a warm (okay, very hot) June evening, Nick told Danielle that he had arranged a private tour of the museum gardens before their dinner reservation. That wasn’t entirely untrue—except this tour had a very special stop along the way.
I arrived early, staking out a hidden spot at the far end of the pond, camera in hand, heart racing with anticipation. Then, I heard it—the honk of Nick’s truck. It was his subtle way of letting me know they had arrived. Message received! I held my breath as I watched them stroll through the gardens, heading toward the bridge at the center of the pond—our carefully chosen proposal location.
The Moment: A Question, A Ring, and A Perfect Yes
As they reached the bridge, Nick took Danielle’s hands in his, turning her to face him. And then, right on cue, he dropped to one knee.
From across the pond, I could see Danielle’s joy as it lit up her face. She was surprised, overwhelmed, and most importantly—ready to say “YES!” Nick slipped the ring onto her finger, and Danielle threw her arms around him in the biggest, most heartfelt hug. It. Was. Perfect.
Everything aligned beautifully—the setting, the timing, and the love between them. And when Nick finally pointed me out, Danielle waved with the sweetest excitement. I walked over to meet them, capturing their post-proposal bliss in some “just engaged” portraits. With the Oklahoma summer sun blazing down, we found shade on the museum’s patio to soak in the moment (and escape the heat!).
A Picture-Perfect Memory
Since that evening, Danielle has shared that friends and family have compared their proposal photo to a painting—an image so dreamy it hardly seems real. And that’s exactly what I hoped for them: a timeless, breathtaking memory of the moment they chose forever.
But this is only the beginning of their story! Stay tuned as I share more from their love-filled journey, including their elegant black-and-white engagement session at the Tulsa Mansion. Danielle’s bridal photoshoot that will be at The Hillside Estates in Texas, and, of course, their upcoming vineyard wedding in Wichita this summer.

After his proposal, Nick wrote the most wonderful review for me on Google. Find his review and read it by clicking here. “Amanda has been incredible to work with! … She made my proposal go as smooth as possible, I loved her attention to detail and how she walked me through the proposal plans beforehand. It calmed my nerves and allowed me to be in the moment as I was proposing. … We consider Amanda to be so much more than a photographer, she is a friend and someone we trust. I was very fortunate to have chosen her, she has made everything go so much smoother than I could have imagined, she is extremely organized, pays close attention to detail, and produces great work. She is the first person I will recommend to anyone who asks for a photographer.”
