They were standing back, proudly watching their two little ones walk around the row of irises, smelling them, “gently” touching them, and talking about the line of beautiful spring blooms. One of my favorite things about photographing families is watching and documenting them simply spending time being a family. For the Potter family’s spring family photoshoot at Woodward Park, after I captured the classic posed family images, they played, ran around, and investigated the flowerbeds in the park. Somewhat selfishly, I led the littlest one of the bunch to a line of irises that bordered the field of grass they had been playing in. I think it made for some great interactive family fun as mom and dad were able to relax and have fun with their children while also having the experience documented.
When Mrs. Potter contacted me the first time to inquire about a family photoshoot, she kindly let me know that she is also a photographer! Immediately I thought, ‘should I be honored or nervous?’ I took it as a very high compliment that someone who knows the technical side of photography, and the time that is invested into the artistic side, would see quality in my work and want that for their family photoshoot!
The Potter Family,
Thank you for trusting in me, and the work that I create, to say “Whatever you think is best” during your family photoshoot! It was an honor to serve you, photograph, laugh and play with you all for an evening!! I really enjoyed walking around Woodward Park on one of the loveliest spring evenings that Oklahoma has to offer, and getting to know you. Your little ones are such sweet kids; they have your light and kindness ingrained in them. It was a blessing to work with them and see their thoughtfulness for the world and for each other. I hope you enjoy the following highlights from your spring family photoshoot at Woodward Park in Tulsa, Oklahoma!
This family of three celebrated their little’s one year old milestone with a cake smash and a family photoshoot after party! A great way to celebrate turning one! (I may also be biased!!)
The Brackett family photoshoot from last fall, spanned four generations!! How sweet is that?!
