Graduation Photoshoot

While photographing seniors for their Senior Photoshoot Experience is my bread and butter and something I really, really enjoy… you can’t beat the excitement that radiates from a senior about to graduate. That joy and eagerness for what is to come is contagious! The seniors have smiles for days and the ‘giggle, giggle, giggle’ seems so much richer during a senior’s Graduation Photoshoot than earlier in the year during their Senior Photoshoot Experience.

This year, I opened a small number of spots for Graduation Photoshoots and held them like “mini sessions” at Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, Oklahoma. While I don’t typically hold mini sessions, this one was really fun and something I am thinking about bringing back year after year!

At graduation, the senior walks across the stage, is handed their diploma (or the case for it anyway), walks off stage, and immediately gets their picture snapped. It’s the same graduation picture we all have; it’s boring, rushed, and doesn’t show any personality. With the Graduation Photoshoot, I can work with the senior one-on-one to bring out the delight in their triumph while giving them a small gallery of unique graduation portraits that aren’t like everyone else’s! It’s also a photoshoot experience that seems on par with the celebration and excitement that is happening in their lives right now.

For me, I loved working with my seniors again. When I photograph them at the beginning of their senior year, they are excited for the coming year and plan for it to be the top of their high school experience. We talk about everything they are looking forward to and what their big plans are for the year. After their senior year, they have accomplished those goals, gone to the ball games, hung out with their friends, and are looking forward to college and the next phase in their lives. It comes full circle.

Addie plans to attend TCC in the fall and Hannah plans to attend Harding University.

Addie and Hannah,

Thank you so much for allowing me the opportunity to photograph you once again! I really enjoyed my time with each of you because you are amazing, lovely, kind, smart, and gorgeous ladies. I know you have very bright futures ahead of you! I wish you the best of luck as you start off on your own in the world, and I encourage you to take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way!!!  I hope you enjoy the highlights from your Graduation Photoshoot!!

I loved that you mentioned that during a photoshoot you can get one on one time with the photographer. I’d like to invest in a graduation photoshoot for my daughter. I think it would also be nice for me to buy a stole and sash for her to wear during the shoot.
