Newborn Thomas

I love photographing children; especially younger children all the way to newborn babies. These photoshoots cause me to pause and to think about life in simpler terms. A mother’s love for her newborn child and a father’s love for his growing family. Being welcomed into a new home to photograph a newborn is such an honor as I am a very new friend who is allowed to witness this beautiful phase in the growing family’s life. This was definitely the case with new parents Anne and Michael. I enjoyed getting to know them, watch Anne’s love for her first newborn baby, and see Michael’s willingness to help Anne in anything she and baby Thomas needed. Thinking back on it now still makes me smile.

Anne and Michael are originally from Michigan; one thing they were gifted was a swaddle blanket with the outline of their home state. Of course we needed to use that in Baby Thomas’s newborn photoshoot! Anne handed me the blanket and after unrolling it, I thought, I have no idea which way is up with the state of Michigan! Anne was so great in helping me situate the blanket so the state appears in the correct direction. Thomas’s newborn photoshoot was designed to match the colors of his nursery; cream, white, and navy blue.

Thank you so much for opening your home to me and allowing me the incredible honor of photographing newborn Thomas. I enjoyed learning about what brought you to Tulsa and seeing you love becoming new parents for the first time in your lives. I know Thomas is going to grow up to be a wonderful person, who is giving and fun to be around. How can he be anything less, with amazing and thoughtful parents like you?!
