Sperry High School Senior Meaghan

I started to qualify the question before I even asked it; if they weren’t okay with my idea, my feelings wouldn’t be hurt. But if they were willing to stop on the side of the road near an abandoned lot that probably has been for sale for the a very long time, there’s some cool fencing or panelling around a section of the lot that’s red, white, and blue. I was struck with inspiration the moment I saw it. Lucky for me, Meaghan and her mom had worked with me before and were more than okay to try out this spot! (YAY!) Meaghan’s the kind of person you’d want as a best friend. She’s outgoing and a true joy to be around, always looking to have fun and laugh a lot! Not only is Meaghan a wonderful person, she’s also gorgeous. I had a blast photographing this Sperry High School Senior, Meaghan!

Meaghan is a class of 2020 Senior Model and what struck me about her application is how she described herself: not as extraordinary but simply ordinary. She made the argument that even though she wouldn’t describe herself as unique that there is beauty in the ordinary and every day. I immediately fell in love with the concept. But I would also argue that she’s very unique because she’s the only applicant to ever make that argument! After getting to know Meaghan, it’s not that she’s ordinary in that she’s “a classic small town, all-American, loves her family“ kind of girl. She plays America’s favorite past-time as a sport: softball. We started her photoshoot at her hometown’s Main Street and out of the handful of people that drove by, her and her mom, Crystal, knew quite a few of them. Meaghan fits into this mold of being a small town girl and it can seem like her life is ‘every day,’ but in reality, Hollywood writes movies about her and little girls dream about being her. There absolutely is beauty in those stories and in Meaghan’s story!

Meaghan’s photoshoot was delayed by the Coronavirus and the week of her shoot looked like it was going to pour down buckets of rain. Welcome to Oklahoma in the spring! However, we stuck with the date and as it got closer, the rain forecast started to move on down the week. The day was cloudy with peeks of sunshine and from the moment her shoot started, the sun didn’t quit shining. It was a fantastic day for an equally fabulous senior! Her senior photos started in downtown of her hometown, Sperry Oklahoma. She tells me there are only 1 or 2 of these buildings still in use but look at the character of them! WOW! I instantly fell in love! After Main Street in Sperry, we stopped a few places on our way to the Blue Dome District in downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma. We went exploring; none of us had been to the Boxyard but the view of the buildings in downtown are spectacular!

Meaghan,

I have really enjoyed working with you through your senior year on my model team and ending your year with your Senior Photoshoot Experience. You are an incredibly fun and kind person with a very trustworthy and honest presence, making anyone you befriend a very lucky person! I wish you so much luck in the coming years going to fire school, EMT, and getting your paramedic license. I think it is so sweet you want to follow in your dad’s footsteps and the profession of being a firefighter is so honorable. Where your job will be to literally serve and help others in their most intense times of need. I really can’t wait to see what you accomplish in the future. But for today, I hope you love the following highlights of your senior pictures!

Tyla’s Senior Photoshoot Experience started at a new location for me, Black Wall Street and then ended at a location I know very well, Woodward Park in Tulsa. Click here to check out this senior model’s photoshoot.

One of my last shoots before the coronavirus quarantine was another one of my senior models, Caroline from Union High School. She is stunning in her photoshoot!
