The Senior Photography Experience is something that most senior ladies dream about and almost all senior parents love the result of. Dreamy and beautiful pictures of you during your senior year in high school… the stressful part can come when you ask yourself but what in the world do I wear?! Your problem may be you have too many outfits you love! Outfits that you don’t love enough… or nothing to wear at all! (I still use that last line standing in the middle of a closet full of clothes. I get you!)

First off, I have an inspiring Style Guide to help you! Whether you want to shop your own closet and wear pieces that you already have or you’d like to take a day trip to the mall, this guide will help you with it all. The goal of the guide is to help you look photo-ready, provide you with tips, access to my Pinterest boards, and help you create outfits that are true to you and your senior experience.

Once you’re inspired and starting to create outfits that you adore, you’ll want to make sure you maximize that outfit! Think of a simple soft pink dress as a base layer. You can switch from a statement necklace with heals to a denim jacket with boots in about a minute and completely transform your look!!! WOW! Incorporating these outfit choices into your photoshoot will add so much variety to your final gallery. If you have a shorter photoshoot time, your one outfit could really look like two in your final gallery and if you have a longer photoshoot, you could make two outfits look like four.

Think about layers jackets, sweaters, and even a blanket. Don’t forget the classic accessories necklaces, scarves, earrings, bracelets, a watch, hats, belts, and of course SHOES! You want to make sure that what you select pairs well as a whole outfit and doesn’t compete for attention in the photograph; the real star should always be you!

Here are some examples from past photoshoots. The first example is Pilar who, in a matter of minutes, changed her earrings, shoes, and added a jacket but her look is completely different! She had a soft, sweet, high-end look for the first part of her shoot and after switching just a few items she finished with an edgy serious vibe. How did she do it? She brought a bag with everything that she needed. It looks like she had an outfit change when in fact she wasted no time switching her accessories and we were back to work!

Jenks senior Alex wanted some pictures with her sweet lamb. She paired a simple white shirt with her FFA jacket. I photographed her with her lamb, Nova, in her white shirt, and in her jacket, and then took a few photos of just Alex while highlighting her beloved FFA jacket. It adds a level of variety to the gallery for this part of her senior photoshoot and could be accomplished with a letterman’s jacket, cool leather jacket, etc.

I am still in love with these images of Hailey, class of 2019, who brought along an adorable sun hat to her senior photoshoot at the beautiful Woodward Park in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We were able to take some images of her without the hat, holding it, and then wearing it. In doing so, we added a lot of action poses to her gallery as well as adding variety to her outfit. Wonderfully paired accessories gives your carefully selected outfits that extra “it” factor. Not only do you look amazing but your photographs look more put together and have more visual power. The image of Hailey holding her hat on the lower left was selected and published in a senior photography magazine! How cool is that?! Read more about the first time I was published here.
